Fall classes start on September 15th 2014

The Little Beans class roster includes a schedule filled with fun, imaginative and educational options for both parents and kids. Playspace admission is Free for one hour before or after your class during the time you’re enrolled.

Evolve Dance Classes

2 years - 6 years

Interested in dance for your little one between 2-4 years? Evolve Dance offers a great dance program at Little Beans. Below are the class options. More information on the classes, descriptions and pricing can be found on their website!

  1. Automatic Monthly Renewal ($17.20/ class for weekdays, $18.00/ class for weekends. Billed monthly)

Little Learners “Preschool Prep” (24-48 months) – Fall

24-48 months

Mondays 10:30am–12:00pm

Little Learners is a 90-minute “pre-school prep” class for children ages 24 to 48 months led by licensed speech and occupational therapists.  Activities include sensory play, circle time with song and book, motor play, arts and crafts, turn-taking games, and snack.  Gentle separation from parents is encouraged.  Little Learners addresses speech and language development, gross and fine motor skills, early literacy, sensory integration, healthy eating, and social play skills.  The class provides socialization opportunities, builds self confidence, and supports pre-school readiness skills. Music and Movement (6-24 months)

A music class that uses movement to foster children’s love for music, teach parents songs they can take home, and gets children and parents moving and dancing together. The class will be ever changing but with a familiar format. That way children know what to expect and parents don’t go crazy. We will use props, simple instruments, creativity and some good old-fashioned rock and roll. Includes an hour of play after class!

Storybook Mom

The Storybook Mom will be at Little Beans to read wonderful and energetic stories to the kids. Her storytime is free with admission and takes place every Tuesday at 10:30 (unless otherwise noted on our website or Facebook page).

Sign Say and Play – Baby Sign Language (11:00-11:45am)

Have you ever wondered what your baby was thinking or why your toddler was crying? This class teaches babies and toddlers simple, easy-to-do gestures for communicating with their parents and caregivers. Using signs gives your child a way to communicate with you long before they have mastered their verbal speaking skills.
In this class, you and your child will learn signs across 8 fun themes; meal-time, bath-time, feelings, park and more. Signs are introduced by Wendy and Beebo-the signing bear while playing games, singing songs, exploring toys and during early literacy activities. Parents will be provided with countless strategies to make signing at home successful and play activities to help reinforce their child’s language, cognitive, and social emotional development. Little Beats Drumming Class

Does your child like music? Do they like to bang on things around the house and hear interesting sounds? This is the class for you. A teacher from Drum Chicago will be at Little Beans for a fun banging good time. It has been shown that drumming helps kids develop their motor and cognitive skills as well as their social and emotional skills by exercising both the left and right side of the brain. In this class we will teach kids how to communicate through rhythm and learn how to play in a group setting through various games and activities.

Kids Drop Off Workshop: Ninja Training

What boy or girl doesn’t want to be a Ninja? But, all good Ninjas need some training in order to be a ninja master! We’ll make ninja belts and headbands followed by a ninja focused karate class, a ninja battle, play and a snack!

GRASP Group

New moms and babies

Thursdays 10:45am–12:00pm

Research consistently shows that healthier, happier mothers tend to raise happier, healthier kids. GRASP group is a wonderful way to bring women together to socialize, learn, and share. At GRASP groups, you get to socialize with other moms while learning important parenting tips and mommy self-esteem boosters from a clinical therapist and a child development specialist. Topics range from personal identity changes, post-partum emotional challenges, bonding with your little one, reconnecting with your significant other, and learning information on child development. GRASP group’s 6-week time frame allows moms to really get to know each other in a warm and nurturing environment. Group members are encouraged to bring their baby (0-9 months). No class the week of Thanksgiving.

SmartCents Financial Literacy

Objective:
SmartCents is an interactive seminar system designed to be conducted in settings where there is a limited amount of time. It is ideal for “lunch and learn” scenarios and takes 30 minutes to conduct. The material is education-focused and not product specific. It is geared for professionals and heads of households to help them identify legal, tax and financial vulnerabilities. Participants also learn principles of asset accumulation, diversification and protection strategies.

Description:
There are very few choices one makes as an adult that does not involve money. And when one’s finances are in order, it has a multiplying effect in all the areas of a person’s life. This financial literacy workshop will examine why a longer lifespan, delayed or reduced social security benefits, low interest rates, rising taxes, uncertain markets, along with a host of other factors may demand entirely new approaches to preparing for important life events and financial goals.

This event is applicable to young participants wanting to learn more about college planning and budgeting. It also provides insight to pre-retirees when it comes to maximizing retirement assets, Medicare, Medicaid and extended care strategies. During this session, participants can learn how to:

There are a lot of great art projects kids do at home, school and in classes but who doesn’t like to get messy. Bring your kids in something you don’t care about and enjoy your time knowing you don’t need to clean up. We’ll explore some messy creations using our senses to talk about what we feel, make a messy project, play and have a snack!
